02 · Eight parts of the day
Choghadiya
Daylight is divided into eight and night into eight, separately. The two are rarely the same length. So a day window and a night window on the same date usually differ — here 1h 33m against 1h 27m.

Why is the panchang different for each city?
Tithi, nakshatra and yoga depend only on the instant, so their end times are the same worldwide. Everything anchored to sunrise is not. The Vedic day runs sunrise to sunrise, and sunrise depends on latitude and longitude. Two cities can sit on different tithis at the same clock time, and their Rahu Kaal will differ by more than an hour. A panchang without a place is not really a panchang.
Not reprinted from an almanac
Every figure on this page was computed for this date and these coordinates from an ephemeris, then checked against JPL Horizons. A printed panchang rounds to the nearest minute for a whole region. This one resolves to the second for one point. So small disagreements with a paper almanac are expected, and ours is the one you can check.
