Where the weekday names come from
Horas run in Chaldean order — Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon. That is descending by how fast each one appears to move. Run twenty-four of them and the next sunrise lands three places further along the seven-name cycle. That is exactly why Sunday is followed by Monday and not by Saturn's day. Our weekday names are a fossil of this table.
Not equal to sixty minutes
A hora is a twelfth of daylight or a twelfth of night, so it is only sixty minutes near the equinox. In a Delhi December the day hora runs under fifty-five minutes while the night hora runs past sixty-five. We compute both from real sunrise and sunset for your city rather than splitting the clock.
