We don’t keep your birth details.

What we collect

To draw a chart we need three things from you: date of birth, time of birth and place of birth. Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, that combination is treated as personal data, and we handle it accordingly.

We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, gender, or payment details anywhere on this site. There is nowhere to create an account, because there are no accounts.

The one thing you should know about URLs

Your chart is generated from the web address, not from a saved record. That means your birth details appear in the URL — something like/chart?date=1990-05-15&time=14:30&city=mumbai.

This has a real consequence, and we would rather say it plainly than bury it:

• The URL will be saved in your own browser history, like any other page you visit.
• If you share the link, whoever receives it can see the birth details in it. That is what makes a chart shareable, but it cuts both ways.
• The address travels over the network to reach us, as every web address does. On our side nothing writes it down. Cloudflare serve this site and we keep their request logging switched off, so no log records the chart you opened.

If you would rather your chart did not sit in your history, use a private browsing window and close it when you are done.

Cookies and tracking

The only cookies we set are the two Google Analytics ones. We use no advertising pixels, and we run no advertising. Your browser also keeps two things of ours: whether you chose the light theme or the dark one, and a small helper file so that you can add the site to your home screen. That file holds one page, the one you see when your phone has no internet. Both stay on your own device, both say nothing about you, and neither is ever sent to us.

Our fonts are served from this site, not from a font service. No third-party CDN sees that you opened a page here.

We count page views in two ways, and neither uses a cookie. The first is Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookie and stores no identifier. It cannot recognise you on a second visit, and it cannot follow you to another site. It records the page you opened, the site that linked you here, your country, your device type, and how fast the page loaded. The second is our own counter, described just below. It sets no cookie and stores no identifier either.

Neither one ever records the query string. That is the part that matters here. Your birth date, time and place travel in the query string, and before anything reaches either tool the address is cut back to the page name. So /chart is what leaves this site, never what follows it. A chart you open is counted as one visit to /chart, and nothing more.

We also count a few things ourselves: which pages are opened, which buttons are clicked, how long a page stays open, and which tool gave someone an answer. Page speed too: how fast a page loads, and how quickly it reacts when you tap. This goes to our own store on Cloudflare. Nothing joins one page view to the next. There is no cookie and no identifier. So what we get is a count of page views, not of people. The page is recorded by name only: /chart, never the birth details that follow it in the address. A city page is counted as a city page, without recording which city. When a tool works something out, we record only that it answered, and which tool it was. Never what you typed in, and never what came back.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to track how people use this site. It sets cookies in your browser. Your birth details are never sent to Google. To switch it off, block this site's cookies.

Who we share it with

Nobody buys it from us. We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not retain it in the first place. We run no advertising and work with no data brokers.

One company does handle it: Cloudflare, who serve every page here. Your birth details pass through their network, because that is how the page reaches you. They are our infrastructure provider, not a partner we hand data to. Pages carrying birth details are never written to their cache — only pages with nothing personal on them are.

Where that happens depends on where you are. Cloudflare runs our code close to the visitor, so a chart opened in London is computed near London and one opened in Mumbai near Mumbai. There is no single central server holding any of it.

We may disclose information if compelled by valid legal process. But since we hold no stored records, in practice there would be little to disclose.

When you email us

The address on this page is a forwarding address. Mail sent to it passes through Cloudflare Email Routing and lands in an ordinary Gmail inbox we read. So an email to us is handled by Cloudflare and Google, like any other email. It stays in that inbox until we delete it. Nothing you send is added to a list, because there is no list.

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you have the right to access your personal data, to correct it, and to have it erased. You can also withdraw consent, and complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Because we store nothing, most of these are already met by design. There is no record to access, correct or delete. Your chart is worked out on our server the moment you ask for it, from what is in the web address. It is never written to a database. Closing the tab erases everything. If you think we hold something about you, write to us and we will look.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 18 and we do not knowingly process their data. As there are no accounts and nothing is stored, we hold no children’s data. A parent or guardian with a concern should contact us.

Security

The strongest security measure available is not collecting data, and that is the one we rely on. Traffic to this site is served over an encrypted connection. There is no user database to breach, no password file to leak and no stored birth records to expose.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of the page. Material changes — such as introducing accounts, analytics or payments — will be stated clearly rather than folded into a routine revision.
